DC Comics plans to create a comic book miniseries based on Batman: Arkham City. The six-issue story will fill in the gaps between City and predecessor Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The Arkham City comic picks up a year after the events of Asylum. Quincy Sharp, the former warden of Arkham Asylum, has become mayor. He has decided to imprison Gotham City’s most violent criminals in “Arkham City.” Arkham City is a walled-off distict of Gotham where prisoners will be free to do whatever they want – besides escape, of course.

Each issue will available digitally worldwide for $2.99 apiece. The first two issues will be released in May. In between each issue, DC will release 8-page digital-first interludes that flesh out the story more. Specifically, they focus on how Batman’s greatest foes adapt to the chaos of Arkham City. The $.99 digital interludes will will eventually be released in an print compilation of the miniseries.

The miniseries was written by Paul Dini, who worked on Batman: The Animated Series and also penned both Arkham games. Arkham City concept artist Carlos D’anda will handle the drawing.
