No responses yetConsidering the strong viral marketing campaign The Dark Knight has had so far, it’s not surprising that the new movie poster wouldn’t just be handed to us.

Instead, it was hidden within the viral site Why So Serious? at this page (click the red lever at top right of the page). Below the defiled portraits, it says “Three days”; when the poster was uncovered yesterday, that notice said “Four days,” most likely referring to the unveiling of the theatrical trailer, which premiered at the New York Comic Con last weekend.
That’s the poster here at right, click for larger view — seriously, click it! That’s one badass poster.

No responses yetThe poor Dark Knight marketing team has been pretty much at a standstill for the last month, since Heath Ledger died suddenly and the entire Joker-centric marketing campaign came to a halt. We don’t really know what’s going to be next for them, though with the June release date looming, presumably there will be some trailer and posters coming up really soon.
For now, though, the fans have pretty much taken over for the professionals. The new Dark Knight poster over at CanMag.com is, as they call it, almost 99% definitely fake, but they also agree it’s pretty cool. For the first time in a while we see an emphasis on Batman, with all the detailing of the Batsuit in clear view. There are, of course, lots of bats flying around in the background, very reminiscent of the Batman Begins posters and therefore almost certainly fake. Poster designers know their shit, and they don’t tend to repeat motifs for sequels.

Even though you probably won’t see this poster in a theater near you, it’s nice to just get people thinking about Batman again. It remains one of the most-anticipated movies of the summer for millions of people, and eventually we’ll all be at the point where we’re far enough from Ledger’s death to look forward to what will be one of his last performances. So bring on the fan art! Even if it’s fake, it stokes the fires of excitement, and that’s fun for everyone.

First Six Minutes Of The Dark Knight Online Mere days after a godawful cam quality version of The Dark Knight teaser popped up, now the entire first six minutes of The Dark Knight has popped up online, predictably, in crappy camcorder format.

If you genuinely can’t wait to see the opening bank robbery sequence in all it’s Chris Nolan theatrical glory and you’d much rather watch it at a crappy angle with godawful, almost unintelligible sound, then enjoy below. Personally I’d rather you waited, but some people have no standards, patience or morals. But that’s okay because it’ll probably be about 30 minutes before the mighty WB gets the video pulled.

Warner Bros. really needs to get on the ball. That new trailer for The Dark Knight, which arrived yesterday attached to prints of I Am Legend and which we told you about earlier, has now leaked all over the place in a fourth-rate bootleg. I guess that’s how the studio wants people to see it — from the vantage point of a camcorder hidden in a guy’s jacket. Come on, Warners, what are you thinking? Anyway, I have to say I’m not terribly impressed by this trailer. First of all, there’s no great Joker moment like we would expect — he appears to just be a typical knife-wielding thug with a bit of flair. Also, there are no show-stopping lines to report. I remember enjoying Michael Caine’s speech from an earlier teaser trailer, about how Batman’s aggressive actions ‘pushed the mob into the arms of a man they didn’t fully understand’ but that’s absent from this full-length trailer. In fact, it’s mostly full of action beats.
I wasn’t over-the-moon about Batman Begins and I don’t really expect to be about The Dark Knight, either. Christopher Nolan is a fantastic director, but dialogue isn’t his best-foot forward and The Joker is a character who demands a great writer. By the time I actually heard him say “Why so Serious?” in this trailer — the line we’ve already seen all over the marketing a hundred times, I started to get a sinking feeling that that’s the best we’re going to get. But who knows, maybe I’m wrong, and they’ll probably get my $11 bucks to find out, which is all that really matters, right?

nd this new domestic poster is appearing in theaters:

Also, the trailer that debuts in theaters with I Am Legend has already leaked online in bootleg form, and, while we will wait until the official version comes online to post it, the trailer looks incredible!

We’ve all heard a lot by now about how completely awesome Heath Ledger is supposed to be as the new Joker in The Dark Knight. Well I’m not sure I really believed it… until last night when I saw the first Dark Knight teaser trailer attached to the I Am Legend print being shown at a Dallas press screening.
It’s not an exaggeration. Ledger’s transformation is amazing. I’m not talking about the makeup here, I’m still not entirely sold on Mr. J’s new look. I’m talking about Ledger, who has somehow chameleoned himself into the character to the point that he’s almost completely unrecognizable. I didn’t know the guy had it in him.
The trailer, which debuts this Friday in front of I Am Legend, is mostly a haphazard collection of images. Honestly, it’s a little muddled, but I doubt anyone will notice they’ll be so busy geeking out over Batman. We get some great shots of the new Batcycle, the Batmobile playing tank on some cars, plenty of Joker, and a lot of narration. You’re going to love it.
While you wait for Friday, Warner Brothers has just released to brand new Dark Knight images. They pretty much cover the primary focus of the trailer. Joker and Batman on a motorcycle. Take a look at them both with just a little scroll:
